Wine Tasting Fun Aboard the Azura

0

One of the highlights of the new P&O Cruises ship, the Azura, is the huge range of wines which will be available in Olly Smith’s wine bar. Not only will guests be able to buy wines in the bottle, a massive 32 different types of wine will be available by the glass. Some of the favourites include Blind River Sauvignon Blank and Peller Ice Cuvee.

The Glass House is designed to impress both wine lovers, and those who are new to wine tasting and enjoying the finer points of wine. As well as offering drinks, The Glass House serves food and each course on the menu features a recommended wine which compliments the dish perfectly.

The feedback from cruise passengers so far has been largely positive, with many guests admitting that they would usually just go for a house wine when ordering by the glass. In the majority of restaurants, diners can only choose from 3 or 4 types of wine if ordering by the glass so this huge range of options is quite a novelty.

The Glass House also offers a wine tasting experience which they call a “wine flight”. This consists of three small glasses of different wines, allowing passengers to taste and sample flavours which they have not tried previously. Olly Smith designed the wine flights with several different themes in mind, from luxury wines, to old favourites and classics.

The reason why the Glass House is able to offer so many types of wine by the glass is that they employ a special method of resealing the bottle. Without using this method, the amount of open and unfinished bottles would make such a place impossible.
