The Disney Dream is the brand new, 12,000 ton, 1,250 stateroom cruise ship from Disney Cruise Line. It is due to be delivered by Meyer Wreft in January and alongside the Fantasy which is scheduled to follow in 2012, the Disney Cruise Line will have more than doubled its capacity.
Tom Wolber, chief operating officer and senior vice president of the cruise line has been speaking about some of the new features that the ship will have. One of the features which has been talked about quite recently is the addition of “Enchanted Art”. Dotted around the ship will be LED screens, made to look like a regular piece of art. However, when you walk past or interact with the art, something magical will happen.
The new ship will also have a brand new theater offering full Broadway style shows, and allowing Disney to really take their onboard entertainment to the next level. There will also be a new cocktail bar onboard the ship, and the introduction of the new bar is likely to reinforce the idea that Disney cruises aren’t just for kids or families.
The cocktail bar will be called “Skyline” and will be a very contemporary, elegant setting. When you walk in, it will look as though you are looking out of a window on the top of a skyscraper but in fact, it is video from rooftop bars around the world. There will be different city featured each night, offering different stunning views. The menu will also change according to the city. Perhaps a Singapore Sling, on a rooftop bar “in Singapore”? What could be better?
As well as facilities for adults being added an improved, there will be more facilities for kids and teenagers. One of the main changes will be the addition of lots of technology, for example interactive floors which let children interact with Disney Characters.
Tom Wolber has said that Disney Cruise Line is constantly looking for ways to improve their product and to raise the bar. We are sure that with the additions mentioned above, guests will be very happy with their cruise experience.
