CSI: the Experience at the MGM Grand will certainly get your creative juices flowing! This is a great attraction for the amateur crime detective, or equally for lovers of the hit TV show. It provides a multi-sensory experience that will put you in the shoes of a detective as you try your hand at solving one of many true life mysteries.
Watch a Matinee
If you are looking for a family friendly experience, you can watch a Matinee at Harrah’s where the king of Matinee, Mac King will thrill you and your loved ones with comedy and magic.
For the Slightly More Adventurous
For those in pursuit of something much more thrilling, the 1,114 foot rides at the Stratosphere should get your adrenalin pumping! Alternatively the 67mph roller coaster at New York New York is an equally thrilling place to be.
Discover the History of Mob Culture
Slow things down a bit and head down town to the “Mob Museum”. Officially known as the National Museum of Organised Crime and Law Enforcement, it houses artefacts and a detailed history of organised crime (and the attempts to prevent it!) in the United States.
Some of the artefacts are interactive, which offers a fun and innovative way for visitors to learn all there is to know about the most notorious gangsters in the history of the USA. One of the most popular exhibits in the museum is a blood-stained wall from the Saint Valentines’ Day Massacre, alongside the second floor courtroom which once housed one of the national Kefauver Committee hearings.
Get out of the City
For travellers who prefer nature to vast concrete jungles, head a little way out of Las Vegas and you’re in for a pleasant surprise. The Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area offers more than 30 miles of hiking trails and a number of beautiful picnic areas. There’s also horseback riding and rock climbing, as well as the expansive Lake Mead national parkland.
Got More than a Day?
As Las Vegas is a desert, a jacket is probably the last thing you’d expect to have to bring with you, but if you did somehow manage to pack something warmer, then a trip to the Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort is well worth a visit. About an hour away by car from the city of Las Vegas, the resort covers 300 acres of mountain covered snow.
