Take the Millennium Falcon for a Spin Aboard the Disney Dream

To coincide with the release of the seventh Star Wars film, Disney Cruises have announced the Disney Dream will be upgraded to include a Millennium Falcon themed play area. Although designed for kids, the area is sure to appeal to the children of the 1970s who queued through the streets to watch the first trilogy in the cinema upon release.

Completing projects on a grand scale as usual, the Millennium Falcon play area gives kids the chance to sit in Hans Solo’s space ship’s cockpit, assist with navigation and experience the thrill of darting through hyperspace.

Star Wars fans will also be able to enjoy the Jedi Training Academy which is also coming to the ship. The Jedi Training Academy is already a popular fixture in Disney World – teaching kids how to become fully-fledged Jedi in just 20 minutes! Star Wars-themed games, activities and crafts will also be available for fans of the franchise and screenings of the animated series, Star Wars Rebels, will play.

Disney Dream at the Bahamas

Disney Cruises have been quick to identify the big screen return of Star Wars as an opportunity to introduce another generation to the sci-fi phenomenon. In February the cruise line announced plans to hold Star Wars Day at Sea packages aboard sister ship, Disney Fantasy, during eight Caribbean sailings from January to April 2016.

The cruise line has recently endeavoured to add more themed areas to its ships, using popular characters and franchises. Another upcoming addition to the Disney Dream is the Wreck-It Ralph-themed sweet shop – Vanellope’s Sweet and Treat. Disney Cruises are hoping this will help distinguish it from competitors and escape the criticism that it too similarly to competitor lines and not using the Disney brand effectively.

However, there is no word whether Chewbacca will hold a co-pilot aboard the Disney Dream yet.
