Princess Cruises have today launched a feature on their website allowing visitors to watch every step of the way as the Grand Princess is transformed and completely made over.
The ship is undergoing a scheduled update which will see it comepletely transformed over the next 24 days. During the makeover, almost 1,500 people will be working around the clock to ensure it is finished on time.
Some of the changes to the Grand Princess include the addition of a tea lounge and library, called Leaves, a pizzeria, and a brand new nightclub called “The One5”. With the launch of several brand new “super ships” this year, it is vital that cruise lines keep their older ships up to date to compete.
One of the moments which will be captured on video during the transformation is the removal of the Skywalkers Nightclub from the Princess Cruise‘s ship. Currently the nightclub impacts heavily on the ship’s performance, and reduces fuel efficiency.
The newly renovated Grand Princess will make it’s debut on the 5th May in Ft. Lauderdale, departing for a transatlantic cruise where she will make her way to her homeport for the summer – Southampton.
