Royal Caribbean International named top large-ship cruise line for families

Royal Caribbean won top accolade at Travel + Leisure’s 2013 World’s Best Awards.

At the end of October, Royal Caribbean were ranked number one on the list of Top Large-Ship Cruise Lines for Families in the Travel + Leisure magazine’s 2013 World’s Best Awards readers’ survey. Readers were asked to cast their votes for the the top hotels, destinations and companies in travel.

Speaking of the news, Carol Schuster, senior vice president of Marketing, Royal Caribbean International said:

“We are delighted to be named Top Large-Ship Cruise Line for Families in Travel + Leisure’s 2013 World’s Best Awards readers’ survey. Royal Caribbean caters to families, whether it’s through our entertainment, our award-winning Adventure Ocean kids programming, the variety of family-stateroom options, or exciting itineraries departing from convenient U.S. ports. This award recognizes our commitment to deliver an unforgettable family vacation experience from the Caribbean to Europe and around the world.”

The award is due to be unveiled in the November 2013 edition of Travel + Leisure magazine.

Royal Caribbean ranked 10th of 16 in the January 2012 edition of the poll.

In addition, Royal Caribbean International have announced they will be adding a whole new class of ships to their fleet, known as “Quantum Class.”

The company have announced that three ships will join the future class.  Two ships have already been named: Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas.  They will be delivered in autumn 2014 and spring 2015 respectively.  The third ship is due to be delivered in mid-2016. The Quantum Class ships are set to become the second largest class of passenger ships behind Oasis Class.

A number of innovative new features have been designed especially for the new Quantum Class ships, including a skydiving simulator activity, an observation tower complete with glass-walled capsule that extends over the edge of the ship 300 meters above sea level and a number of new multipurpose venues.
