Cruise enthusiasts were treated to some exciting news this week with the announcement that Princess Cruises plans to add an all-new 3500 passenger luxury liner to its already impressive fleet. The new vessel is scheduled for completion in 2017 and will joins its sister ships, Royal Princess and Regal Princess in the opulent Royal class category.

The line demands nothing but the best for its fleet, with the Royal Princess being christened in Southampton last year by none other than the Duchess of Cambridge herself. The highly publicised naming ceremony was followed by an ITV documentary titled The Cruise Ship, which followed crew life on-board the luxury vessel.

According to Princess Cruises president, Jan Swartz, “Royal Princess and Regal have been exceptionally successful for us. Adding another sister ship will enable us to continue to expand our innovative holiday experiences.”

The 143,000 ton super liner will be built in Italy by Trieste based shipbuilding company, Fincantieri. At an estimated cost of €600 million, the newest member of the Royal class fleet is sure to be brimming with lavish facilities and on-board amenities.

While the name of the new Royal class vessel has not yet been disclosed, the line has confirmed that it will house a range of Princess’s trademark features such as an 80% balcony stateroom count, exclusive adults-only Sanctuary, central atrium with luxury dining, entertainment and retail options as well as the celebrated Movies Under the Stars venue.  Princess representatives have also revealed the ship will feature some exciting new innovations, however they are still being kept top secret!
