P&O Cruises Invite Public to Name Most Environmentally Friendly Ship Yet

0

P&O Cruises is set to launch its largest and most environmentally-friendly ship ever in 2020 and the cruise line is looking for the perfect name for this exciting flagship vessel. Undeterred by the recent Boaty McBoatFace fiasco, P&O have launched a competition allowing the public to suggest names for the new ship. Able to carry a massive 5,200 passengers, the ship will be bigger than the Britannia and will be powered by liquefied natural gas.

At 180,000 tonnes, the new ship will not only offer more accommodation than any other British ship, but will give its passengers unprecedented choice on everything from entertainment to dining options. All the things that P&O are known for will be supersized on the new ship, from amazing service to that classic British hospitality. It will feature 15 bespoke dining venues to suit every occasion and culinary craving, including eight speciality restaurants to let you get a taste of your destinations.

World leading designers are helping to make this ship P&O’s best ever, with the likes of architects Jestico + Whiles (Aqua Shard, Yas Hotel) and ship builders Meyer Werft (Disney, Celebrity) collaborating on the design innovations that will distinguish this ship. From the majestic maritime architecture of the ship’s exterior to the interior design that will rival the luxury of top hotels, the ship will offer its guests the very best in style and relaxation.

To make sure that the new ship has a suitably splendid moniker, P&O have opened the task of naming it up to the public in an exciting competition. Calling for suggestions that are worthy of the ship’s size and credentials, P&O say they are looking for “something memorable, dignified and reflecting its position as the new start in our fleet.”

The competition does not have any rules or parameters, so anyone wishing to enter has until 31 July 2017 to submit the perfect name. Judging the competition will be a panel of esteemed experts from across the P&O business and its brand partners. Any entrants will have to wait with crossed fingers until the beginning of next year to find out if their name is the one that has been picked from thousands of suggestions. Full details of the competition can be found on the P&O website.
