Norwegian Cruise Line is bringing cruising into the 21st century and shaking off its image as the preserve of the retired and sedentary.

They are using social media to reach a whole new audience for their “Cruise like a Norwegian” campaign.  They increased their Facebook fan following by over 159% during their campaign period earning them the Social Media in Travel and Tourism Award (SMITTY) by Travel + Leisure for best use of a Social Media Platform by a Cruise Line.  The magazine had received hundreds of examples of creative uses for social media, but Norwegian Cruise Lines was by far the most innovative.

“Early on, we recognized the power of Social Media and how it helps us to engage our guests and welcome them into our community of Norwegians”

– Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian Cruise Line’s chief executive officer.

If you are new to cruising or fancy something a little bit different, why not take a look at the company’s Facebook page at www.ncl.com/facebook, follow @cruisenorwegian on Twitter or repin Norwegian’s pins on Pinterest at www.pinterest.com/norwegiancruise.

Onboard a Norwegian Cruise Line ship:

The introduction of “Freestyle Cruising” has given NCL guests more freedom and flexibility while onboard their cruise ships.  From top stage productions and shows for the whole family, to adults-only clubs allowing parents to get a bit of peace from the kids – and how about their innovative show under the big top whilst at sea?

Food and drink on board is equally unique. Gone are the set dining times, assigned tables and formal dress code, and if you wanted to eat at different restaurant every day on board, that wouldn’t be a problem!

With two 4,000-passenger vessels, Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway, on order for delivery over the next 2 years, Norwegian Cruise Line are ensuring they are geared up for this new era of cruising.
