Norwegian Cruise Line Announces Two New Broadway Musicals and Club

Norwegian Cruise Line has announced its flagship vessel, the Norwegian Epic, will play host to two brand new musicals and a Beatles-inspired club. From 2015, the Norwegian Epic will be the home of shows ‘Priscilla Queen of the Desert – The Musical’ and ‘Ballroom Blitz’ as well as the Cavern Club – inspired by the Liverpudlian music venue, made famous by the fab four.

Priscilla Queen of the Desert – the Musical is the Broadway show based on Stephan Elliott’s 1994 film of the same name. Using well-known pop songs for the score, the show follows two drag queens and a transgender woman as they journey to Alice Springs, a resort town in the remote Australian desert.

The musical adaptation has been a huge success, winning a Tony Award and a Laurence Olivier Award in the costume design categories.

The second show, Ballroom Blitz, will feature 14 dancers, a live band and two singers, and will be performed on the ship’s transatlantic voyages.

The Cavern Club promises to bring a British pop experience to the seas. Inspired heavily by the 57-year-old club in Liverpool which played host to many of the Beatles’ early, iconic shows, the Cavern Club will feature live performances from international artists, channelling the spirit of the Beatles and other Britpop performers. The club will officially open its doors on 11 October 2015.

The Norwegian Epic is also moving home next year, as she relocates to Barcelona from 30 April 2015.
