Japanese aficionados delight! MSC Seaside is on its way, and when it launches in December 2017 passengers will be treated to a kaleidoscopic line-up of pan-Asian delights, courtesy of the legendary Roy Yamaguchi. As one of the most coveted Japanese-American chefs in the business, Yamaguchi will be serving up a tantalising line-up of exotic fare at a yet to be named Asian restaurant.

“A passion for dining is inspired by our Mediterranean heritage; our commitment to fine dining is natural,” said MSC Cruises CEO Gianni Onorato at the recent Seatrade Cruise Global in Fort Lauderdale.

A world of pan-Asian tastes

For a small cover charge, passengers will be invited to sample a beautifully crafted menu of Asian inspired mains, plus hit up a freshly stocked sushi bar. For those craving a charcoal twist, hibachi grills will also be braising Japanese, Korean, Thai and Malaysian, made to order.

“I’ve had restaurants on land, but a restaurant at sea is the perfect opportunity to showcase what I’ve been doing for 30 years and bring it to a nice ship,” said Yamaguchi.

With 30 restaurants across the US, Yamaguchi’s new venue is a chance for passengers to sample the creations of one of America’s favourite celebrity chefs. Not only will he be crafting bespoke dishes, but he’ll also personally oversee the wine list, crockery, music and menu design. Needless to say, every detail will feature Yamaguchi’s alluring pan-Asian touch.

A delicious line-up of celebrity chefs

For MSC, scoring Yamaguchi is yet another feather in its already impressive culinary hat. He joins a trio of existing gastronomic deities, including Italian master Carlo Cracco, French chocolatier and pastry chef Jean-Philippe Maury and Chinese connoisseur, Jereme Leung.

Commenting on the new addition, Rick Sasso, President of MSC Cruises had a tongue in cheek attitude. “You’ve heard the motto: If it’s not broken don’t fix it. Ours is a little different — if it’s not broken, make it better,” he said.

As well as mouth-watering on-board experiences, MSC Cruises whisks passengers away to some of the most intoxicating destinations on the planet. While MSC Seaside may not make her maiden voyage until 2017 Cruise 1st has a myriad of MSC Cruises itineraries to fill the gap. Spotlighting stunning ports throughout the Mediterranean, the fleet sails to Italy, Malta, Spain, France and beyond. Call our friendly sales team on 0808 2746 777.
