Great news for explorers and adventurers alike, Holland America Line’s new EXC In-Depth Voyages are set to take to the waters of the world later this year.

An extension of their Explorations Central theme, the programme is tailor-made for those who love to delve deep into new experiences when they’re on holiday. Immersive and authentic, the line’s 1,258-guest Maasdam ship will play host to a number of voyages, ranging from 12-day jaunts to mammoth 239-day itineraries provide experiences like nothing else before them.

Taking in a variety of exotic locales, the first trip departs from Fort Lauderdale on 10 September, and sets sail for Papeete, Tahiti via the Panama Canal. Along its journey, the ship will call at ports on the west coast of South America, sail across the Pacific Ocean to Easter Island, before visiting a number of South Pacific islands during the 34-day voyage. Later in the year in October and November, Maasdam will explore the South Pacific, followed by a trip to New Zealand.

Later on, the ship will then journey along the southern coast of Australia, featuring a 16-day itinerary that departs on 21 December. The following month, Maasdam will cruise the northwest coast of Australia up to Singapore where it embarks on a 20-day adventure in the Indian Ocean. The Spice Islands and ports along the north-eastern coast of Australia will host Maasdam, before the final EXC In-Depth cruise features a 29-day trip through Polynesia before ending at San Francisco on 7 May.

The programme, split into six themes, including photography; science and nature, arts and culture; food, wine and spirits; history and perspective; and active exploration, allowing guests to tailor their holiday to their interests or affords them the chance to try something new.

Onboard, a range of activities, led by a team of experts, will cover a series of subjects, including marine life, geology, and history.

Bill Fletcher, senior director of Destination Marketing at Holland America Line, said the company had decided to focus on creating “truly unique” itineraries and that they were selling the EXC concept based on the “local experience” that guests will be offered.

“It takes our destination story one big step further. The only priority was to make it as interesting for our guests as possible. It is such a cool, wandering itinerary. Many of the places we are going have only seen very small, expedition-style ships.”

It’s a superb opportunity to see parts of the world up close and in ways you’ve never experienced before. A true treat for those who love to make holidays an adventure across the globe.
