Already available as part of the nightly entertainment experience on the ms Eurodam, B.B. King’s Blues Club Experience will be coming to four more cruise ships during 2014.
The other cruise ships with this rhythm and blues experience will include ms Noordam, ms Nieuw Amsterdam, ms Westerdam and ms Zuiderdam.
The experience was expanded to more ships due to the popularity of the show, which plays to a full house every night on the Eurodam. In addition to the regular nightly entertainment, Live from B.B. King’s takes centre stage as the headliner on the ship’s main stage in the Show Lounge. The expansion provides a way for more guests to enjoy the music and showmanship.
Straight from Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee, these world-class musicians consist of an eight-piece band. The band includes two vocalists, a drummer, bassist, guitarist, sax player, trumpeter and organist. The band plays many favourite rhythm and blues songs from a range of artists, providing a memorable experience for all guests.
Each ship will re-create the experience that has been enjoyed on land around the country at the original locations of the B.B. King’s Blues Club. The locations provide a supper club–style restaurant that blends live music with the South’s most delicious comfort foods influenced by New Orleans recipes. Each ship’s Queen’s Lounge will be made over to include portraits of the Memphis Blues singing legend. There will also be a special stage built to resemble a Memphis nightclub. Around the lounges, there will be hanging guitars. To enjoy the music, a collection of exclusive specialty cocktails from the land-based clubs will be served.
Holland America Line is already known for its exceptional cruise experiences, and this is another example of how the cruise line is focused on creating unique on-board entertainment and experiences for its guests. The amount of positive response from the initial B.B. King’s Blues Club Experience has been the catalyst for the expansion and provided the basis for other entertainment experiences planned for future cruise ships.
Recently, journalist Doug Parker sailed on ms Eurodam, he wrote about his B.B. King’s Blues Club experience on his website, CruiseRadio.net. Here’s what he had to say:
One not to miss event on the Eurodam is the B.B. King’s Blues Club. Based on the legendary blues singer B.B. King, the club takes place for about 2.5-hours in the Queens Lounge aboard the ship and is rocking non-stop. You’ll will hear music across the board, so it’s not all just rhythm and blues. They did a cover of Purple Rain and they rocked the house. It’s really interactive too because guests are up dancing and having a good time.
If you would like to check out the incredible musicianship of this group, they will be on the following ships in 2014:
