Grand Turk Cruise Center celebrates record year

0

Following the 2010 cruise season the Grand Turk Cruise Center, predicted five years ago to be the next favourite of cruise passengers from around the world, has exceeded expectations enormously. With 248 calls from 40 cruise ships this ever evolving port facility hosted a record 622,720 passengers in 2010, a massive increase of 113% from its 2006 figures. And no wonder, since it currently boasts more outlets and attractions than it ever has before, including a host of popular retailers such as Ron Jon Surf Shop©, Dizzy Donkey, Milano Diamond Gallery, The Trading Post and Indigo Pearls.

Grand Turk has also just opened ‘Splashdown at Grand Turk’ a brand new space attraction, product of a collaboration with the hugely popular NASA Kennedy Space Center which highlights and celebrates the relationship between the history of Grand Turk and the American Mercury space program through accurate replicas and interactive exhibitions. The opening was attended by representatives from many cruise lines including Carnival Corporation, and guests and crew from liners in port that day.

It’s not surprising that this 14 acre cruise facility is one of the most popular in the Caribbean given the features already mentioned, but the private beach, swimming pool, fabulous recreation area with Margaritaville themed bar and restaurant and the FlowRider® artificial wave facility guarantee its popularity is only set to increase throughout 2011.
