Eric Lanlard to add a sweetener to P&O Cruises Food and Wine theme cruises

P&O Cruises have a sweet treat lined up for their passengers:

French Celebrity Chef, Master Pâtissier and Cake Boy legend, Eric Lanlard will be joining two Food and Wine themed cruises in 2013.  Lanlard will be showing off his baking skills and giving demonstrations of how he manages to create beautifully decorated cakes and desserts. This is sure to be a popular event and many passengers will recognise Lanlard from his successful channel 4 television series.

Lanlard has huge experience in baking, starting at a young age and has come to serve cakes to the most important clients, including Her Majesty the Queen Mother, David Beckham, Madonna, Elizabeth Hurley and Claudia Schiffer, among others. But he is no stranger to baking at sea either, having at one time been a chef for the French Navy. To celebrate the 175th year of P&O Cruises, Lanlard created a bespoke cake which was cut by HRH The Princess Royal on July 3.

During his demonstration on the Food and Wine themed cruises, Lanlard will focus on teaching passengers a selection of his successful and easily-applied techniques. He will show how replicate some of his delicious baking designs, including patisserie, mouth-watering chocolates and delicious desserts. Lanlard will travel on the two cruises below in 2013:

  • A 14 night Western Mediterranean on board Azura (A310N), departing April 27, joining Atul Kochhar and Olly Smith on board. Vantage Fares from £1,069pp
  • A 28 night Caribbean no fly cruise on board Adonia (D318), departing November, joining Marco Pierre White on board. Vantage Fares from £2,439pp

In addition, while on board, Lanlard be offering other opportunities including a book signing and photo session. This is perfect for both his fans and other passengers on board who want to learn more. He will also hold a Q&A session with the cruise director and demonstrations in the theatre for those wanting to learn more about his life and career. There is also the chance for some passengers to get involved in a private masterclass with Lanlard and learn how to bake like the Master Pâtissier. There will be 10 places in this class (a charge will apply – on board Azura only).

“My passion is for making cake that tastes as good as it looks, taking my inspiration from the many parts of the world I have travelled to. I have been on many cruises and love them, it’s a great way to travel and see different places in a short time. I am so excited to be working with the team at P&O Cruises, I love sharing my passion for my work, meeting new people and of course I love being on the ships, come and join me!”
