Cunard Line have announced this week that they’re launching a unique and unforgettable Transatlantic crossing to coincide with International World Space Week. The October 2017 sailing from New York to Southampton will host a series of expert speakers, sharing the secrets of the universe with guests.

These interesting talks will be amongst a plethora of space-themed events aboard the line’s flagship, Queen Mary 2, during the week-long cruise. The QM2 is home to the only planetarium at sea, making it the perfect place to hold a theoretical expedition into space.

The renowned space experts already confirmed to talk on this unique galactic cruise include:

  • Dr Jeffrey Hoffman, NASA Astronaut, Scientist and former Shuttle Pilot
  • Charles Barclay from the Royal Astronomical Society
  • Stephen Attenborough, Commercial Director of Virgin Galactic
  • Ken MacTaggart, NASA Historian

Richard Meadows, President, Cunard North America, enthused: “Throughout history, the Cunard brand has been synonymous with exploration and adventure. We are pleased to offer guests the opportunity to understand, explore and delight in the universe as Queen Mary 2 sails across the Atlantic, giving guests a unique vantage point to discover land, sea and space.”

And not only does the ship’s planetarium offer a selection of three-dimensional tours through the solar system, guests will be able to enjoy the real thing, stretching their legs on the delightfully-appointed open-air decks. Cruising through the Atlantic Ocean, with no light pollution or interference, the journey will provide an unspoiled view of the majesty of the stars.
