Anthem of the Seas to Debut Two New Shows

Royal Caribbean’s upcoming Quantum Class ship, Anthem of the Seas, will play host to two new specially-developed theatrical productions. Passengers will be able to enjoy ‘The Gift’ in the Royal Theatre alongside the previously announced ‘We Will Rock You’ musical. Additionally, guests will be invited to experience ‘Spectra’s Cabaret’ in the stunning Two70 lounge.

‘The Gift’ has been described as “a musical journey of fantasy and illusion that begins one stormy night with the arrival of a magical gift”, and the performances aboard the Anthem of the Seas will be the show’s first ever public showings.

Royal Caribbean describes ‘Spectra’s Cabaret’ as featuring “the Maestro and his Agents of Rhythm as they invite you to an electric multi-dimensional cabaret.” The show takes full advantage of the unique capabilities of the Two70 lounge, blending pop music with digital imagery projected onto the multiple moving screens behind the stage.

We revealed back in September that ‘We Will Rock You’ has been planned as the flagship musical performance aboard the Anthem of the Seas. The popular Broadway performance is set to a soundtrack of songs by British rock band, Queen, and is based in a dystopian future.

The date of the ship’s float-out has been revealed to be this coming Saturday (21 February 2015) as it undergoes thruster and stabiliser tests in the harbour of Meyer Werft’s shipyard in Germany. These final preparations and flourishes are being added as the ship and its crew prepare for the big launch in just over a month in April 2015.

Details about the shows included aboard the Ovation of the Seas, the upcoming third member of the Quantum Class of ships, are yet to be revealed by Royal Caribbean. Older sister, Quantum of the Seas, is currently enjoying a run of ABBA-inspired musical ‘Mamma Mia’.
