The Australian Cruise market is one which has often been overlooked by the big cruise lines in the past, however the market is certainly growing and cruises are becoming more and more popular with the Ozzies. Celebrity Cruises have announced that they have recorded their biggest month ever in Australia in October, reporting that there has been a big rise in demand for premium cruises.
Bookings with the luxury cruise line have doubled in the previous month compared to the month before, and compared to the same month in 2009. It is likely that much of this rise can be attributed to the regional deployment of the Celebrity Century in 2011.
Celebrity Cruises are extremely pleased with the recent surge in bookings and say that cruises from Sydney and Auckland have been particularly popular. When the Century arrives in Australia in 2011, it will be the highest rated ship to have it’s homeport in Australia. This upmarket, luxury cruising experience is exactly what Australian passengers are looking for.
Of course Celebrity Cruises weren’t the first ones in the industry to spot this growing market in Oz, and with the launch of the Cruise 1st Australia website earlier this year, we have certainly witnessed the increase in popularity of cruise holidays.
