Why Cruises are Great for Teenagers

0

Planning a family holiday can sometimes be stressful, especially if you have a moody teenager that simply doesn’t want to go anywhere or do anything that you suggest. However, thanks to the wonderful world of cruise, you can now cut out that aspect altogether. I guarantee every teenager will want to hit the high seas when they see what is on offer.

Just about everything you can think of is now available at sea and they are all guaranteed to keep even the most challenging of teenage happy. Take Anthem of the Seas, she offers RipCord by iFly, FlowRider, NorthStar, SeaPlex, Xbox gaming zones, and dedicated teen hangout areas. Now, let’s assume (for argument’s sake) that your teenager isn’t a fan of any of the above. Then we can cut across to Norwegian Getaway and offer a water park – one of the biggest at sea – a huge multi-level ropes course, and The Plank – which extends 8-feet out over the side of the ship. If I could turn the clock back and be 15 again, I would be over the moon with all of those options! What kid wouldn’t?

Cruising has changed so much over the last 20 years and it is thanks to cruise lines like Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line, Carnival Cruise Line and Disney Cruises that more and more families every year can enjoy a relaxing holiday at sea.

Sunbathing

I think one of the biggest draws for parents is that even when their kids are out of sight, they know they are still close by. I don’t have children, but I know I would worry more about my kids on land than I would aboard a cruise ship, simply because I know they can’t go far aboard. When they are in the kids clubs at sea they are safe and are being monitored the entire time. When the older teens leave the clubs and venture off around the ship they are on CCTV. In most cases security are doing deck checks, which means if they are getting up to no good it won’t be for very long!

Cruising gives older teens the freedom to holiday as they wish, they can go off and spend time with new friends in the hangout areas, grab a pizza from the grill or chill out and play Xbox games – all the things that they would do at home, they can do aboard, and without the constant watchful eye of mum and dad. I suppose, to put it plainly, it lets them feel like grown-ups.

Teen Club Room

The selection available for families is vast, you have ships that offer every kind of facility you could imagine, to those that simply offer a kids club and teen hangout area. In short, there is an option for every kind of family, because let’s face it, some teens just want some peace and quiet too, they don’t need the bells and whistles, just a few other kids their own age and they can create their own entertainment.
