If you are free to spend a couple of months away from the responsibilities of life and can take to the seas – there are a number of round-the-world cruises which can give you access to every continent on Earth. Here we have a look at three of the best world cruises which are currently available from the top cruise lines.
Roundtrip Southampton
Cunard is perhaps the best-known cruise line for offering stunning round-the-world trips. The Roundtrip Southampton cruise aboard the Queen Victoria takes in five continents during four months at sea – departing in January 2016. Setting sail from Southampton, the ship spends three days at sea before arriving on the volcanic Portuguese islands of the Azores. The nine volcanic islands make up some of the tallest mountains on the planet – providing a truly stunning experience to start the world journey.
The Queen Victoria then continues her journey towards Florida, where she docks at Port Canaveral and Fort Lauderdale before continuing to Central America. The ship then completes one of the planet’s great cruise trips – sailing through the Panama Canal, heading up to Los Angeles and California. Before leaving US water, the Queen Victoria visits two Hawaiian Islands.
On 16 February, the ship passes the International Date Line on her way to islands of the South Pacific. Calling in at Western Samoa before circumnavigating New Zealand and Australia – the Queen Victoria visits Auckland, Christchurch, Sydney, Melbourne and Kangaroo Island. The trip includes a stopover in Sydney – giving you a chance to explore the highlights of the famous city.
The ship then moves onto Asia, visiting Brunei, Vietnam, Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia. With richly diverse cultures to explore – you’ll welcome the relaxing, luxury trips to the Seychelles and Mauritius which follow.
The cruise then moves onto its fifth continent – visiting the African nations of South Africa and Namibia before taking in the final stretch of the journey. Fittingly the last excursion is on another Portuguese island, Madeira, before the Queen Victoria makes her way back to Southampton on her 120th day at sea.

World Cruise
The World cruise aboard the P&O Arcadia will visit 37 ports in 21 different countries – again departing from Southampton (the UK really is the best place to love for worldwide cruise fans). Taking in 115 nights at sea – the cruise has a strong ‘Polynesian and Asian Adventure’ theme taking in a number of destinations in this region.
Departing in January 2017 (so you have plenty of time to plan and stock up on reading material), the cruise immediately heads for Madeira before visiting the Caribbean islands of Barbados and Curacao. The cruise then continues on to the US West Coast – visiting San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
After stopping off in Honolulu, the Arcadia makes it was across the globe to the South Pacific and Australasia – calling in at Auckland and Sydney. Passengers also get the chance to enjoy the sights of the Great Barrier Reef.
The great Asian adventure then really kicks off, visiting (deep breath) Okinawa, Osaka, Nagasaki, South Korea, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City, Laem Chabang, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Phuket, Sri Lanka, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, UAE and Petra. Perfect for cruise fans who want to experience the best of the Far East.
The cruise then takes on its final leg, taking in Turkey and Portugal – before making its way back home to Southampton.

Fort Lauderdale Roundtrip
The 11 night cruise aboard the Pacific Princess is quite unusual for that particular line – more usually associated with short family cruises. Departing from the major Floridian port of Fort Lauderdale in January 2017 – the cruise spends many nights exploring the Americas, taking in Salvador, La Paz, Los Angeles and Honolulu before heading to Australasia.
Visiting Auckland, Sydney and Cairns during a quick visit to the region – the Pacific Princess then heads for Asia. Guests can explore the unique civilisations of Hong Kong, Singapore, Phuket, Dubai and Mumbai – before the ship makes her way to the Northern Hemisphere.
A quick Italy-centric tour of Europe explores the ancient cities of Bari and Venice as well as the beautiful island of Sicily – providing passengers the perfect opportunity to perfect their Godfather impressions in beautiful settings.
The ship then starts the trip back west to Fort Lauderdale, visiting the Portuguese city of Portimao and the island of Gibraltar before arriving in Florida.
