Royal Caribbean Trademark Five New Ship Names

0

Following last week’s news that the new Quantum Class of ships from Royal Caribbean is to be named Ovation of the Seas; the cruise line has trademarked five new names and renewed three existing trademarks which could potentially be used for ships in the future.

As Royal Caribbean continues to increase their fleet in terms of classes and members of these fleets, they are constantly innovating new names which best represent their ships, company ethos and dedication to providing luxury, enjoyable holidays for all members of the family.

Sticking to the traditional suffix, the new names trademarked with the United States Patent and Trademark Office are the following:

  • Spectrum of the Seas
  • Joy of the Seas
  • Harmony of the Seas
  • Emblem of the Seas
  • Apex of the Seas

The three renewed cruise ship names are:

  • Pulse of the Seas
  • Passion of the Seas
  • Ovation of the Seas

The latter of these three renewed names has now been allocated to the third ship in the Quantum Class due to take to the seas in Autumn 2016, following sister ships Quantum of the Seas in November this year and Anthem of the Seas in April 2015.

There are a number of ships in the pipeline from Royal Caribbean which could be granted any of these names including the third and fourth ships in the Oasis Class – currently the largest ships on the seas. The two new ships are planned to join the Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas in Summer 2016 and 2018 respectively, and are both expected to exceed their sisters in size.

The ‘of the Seas’ suffix has been used on all ships in the Royal Caribbean fleet since the Sovereign of the Seas’ launch in 1987. Previous ships in the fleet did not have uniformed naming but none of these ships are currently operating under the Royal Caribbean name – with some retiring and others bought by other operators.
