Norwegian Cruise Lines are to move their central headquarters from London to Southampton this summer.
The cruise line confirmed the move earlier this week, attributing the lease expiration at their current premises in Hammersmith, as well as rising rentals costs, as the primary reason for the move to Southampton.
Francis Riley, senior vice president international for Norweigan Cruise Lines, said the move also posed an “opportunity to be in close proximity to the Prestige Cruise Holidays UK Office”, which Norwegian purchased in September 2014 for $3.025 billion.
Top brass at Norwegian Cruise Lines have pledged that opportunities will be given to all current staff after the move to Southampton, with no redundancies planned.
Southampton has been a base for sister brands Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises for a number of years, and Norwegian hope that the move will make it easier for the three brands to work together.
Norwegian Cruise Lines currently have thirteen vessels in their fleet, with one or two new vessels currently in production. The firm offers sailings to a number of unique destinations around the globe, including the Mexican Riviera, Bermuda and Alaska.
