There are new cruise ships bursting out of shipping yards all over the world at the moment, I actually feel like they are invading us!
Just have a quick look at what is on the horizon, and let me tell you that the below does not even cover half of them!
- Royal Caribbean International – Anthem of the Seas & Harmony of the Seas
- Oceania Cruises – Sirena
- Seabourn – Encore
- Norwegian Cruise Line – Norwegian Escape & Norwegian Bliss
- Viking Ocean Cruises – Viking Star & Viking Sky
- Holland America Line – MS Koningsdam
- Ponant – Le Lyrial
- TUI Cruises – Mein Schiff 4
- AIDACruises – AIDAprima
- Regent Seven Seas Cruises – Seven Seas Explorer
- Carnival Cruise Lines – Carnival Vista
As I said, the above is just a fraction of what is to come, it really is an exciting time for cruise right now and we, as passengers, have more choice than ever before.
The ship of 2015 I was most excited for was P&O Cruises Britannia and I have to say that she is absolutely fantastic. Next it is Anthem of the Seas and she is closely followed by Norwegian Escape – but of course I want to see them all!
I wanted to mention the above because they really do provide a good look at all the different options we now have from cruise ships. You have the family-friendly Anthem of the Seas, and if this ship doesn’t keep your kids happy then NOTHING will, trust me! We also have something a little luxurious (for those of us with deep pockets) by way of Seabourn Encore and Seven Seas Explorer, and then we have a ship that would suit more or less everyone, in the shape of MS Koningsdam.
Twenty years ago, innovations we have freely available to us today were nothing more than one man’s dream and it really is nice to see all of these different vessels quite literally come to life. I have to admit that I do prefer a modern ship but with a more traditional feel, however, I am spending 2-nights on Anthem of the Seas later this month and I am actually very excited about it. I can’t wait to try bumper cars at sea – or dodgems as they are also known – to experience the Northstar, take in the views from Two70 and to kick the kids out of, sorry, to investigate everything that SeaPlex has to offer. Watch this space for that report…
Is there a particular ship that you are looking forward to seeing or cruising on? Let me know with a comment.
