“Cutesy, real fun play” Legally Blonde, the Musical will headline NCL’s newest ship, Norwegian Getaway.
Legally Blonde, the Musical and Burn the Floor will headline Getaway when she debuts in January next year (2014).
The news was announced during a press conference onboard Norwegian Breakaway last week, along with the following tidbits about the entertainment options that will also be onboard Getaway:
“Norwegian has truly raised the bar when it comes to entertainment at sea and that is why it was extremely important to me that Norwegian Getaway feature high-caliber entertainment that will continue to exceed our guest’s expectations. With LEGALLY BLONDE performing in the Getaway Theater, along with BURN THE FLOOR, world-class comedy by THE LEVITY ENTERTAINMENT GROUP, magic in the previously announced ILLUSIONARIUM, THE GRAMMY EXPERIENCE, and all of the other entertainment offerings, we continue our commitment on Norwegian Getaway to offer guests the best entertainment experience possible.”
— Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian Cruise Line’s chief executive officer
Legally Blonde, the Musical is based on the film with the same name. Sheehan describes the musical as “cutesy, real fun.” The play is a 7-time Tony Award nominated Broadway production.
Burn the Floor is another Broadway show joining Getaway. This made its debut on Norwegian Breakaway when the ship first set sail earlier this year. However, the show won’t be exactly the same. In keeping with the Miami flavour of the ship, Burn the Floor will take on a latin vibe.
The popular Howl at the Moon duelling piano act will make its return on Norwegian Getaway, as well as a variety of Nickelodeon-themed activities and shows, which will no doubt delight teen and child passengers! Youngsters will be able to enjoy the Nickelodeon pirate-themed aqua park, the Pajama Jam, Dora’s Dance Party, Storytime with Dora and much more.
Second City will be replaced by 12 comedy shows from Levity Entertainment. The company has produced live shows for acts including Bill Cosby, Jeff Dunham, Daniel Tosh and others worldwide.
About Norwegian Getaway:
Getaway is currently under construction at the Meyer Werfy shipyard in Germany. She’ll be the largest ship to homeport in Miami when she’s delivered next year. The ship is expected to weigh 146,600 gross tons.
The ship will be decorated with “hull artwork” from David LEBO Le Batard, plus it will be home to three Geoffrey Zakarian restaurants. Guests will be able to enjoy the all-new GRAMMY Experience At Sea, which will include spectacular performances from past GRAMMY winners.
Norwegian guests will also be able to attend the marvellous “Illusionarium“, a special-effects laden illusion and magic show.
The ship will be able to accommodate 4,000 guests, with a number of stateroom options available for holidaymakers. This includes The Haven by Norwegian, 42 suites at the top of the ship in an exclusive, private enclave that is accessible by keycard only.
