The new “Ice Cream Bar” concept will also be available for guests on Norwegian Getaway!
Holidaymakers travelling on either Norwegian’s newest ship Breakaway or the soon-to-be launched Getaway will be able to sample a range of delicious treats from the menu at the line’s all new “Ice Cream Bar”.
Guests sailing on Breakaway’s seven-day Bermuda or Bahamas and Florida Cruises from New York City will have opportunity to indulge in some of the most fabulous sweet treats at sea. There will be a range of classic ice cream parlour creations available for guests to enjoy, including floats, milkshakes, malted shakes and egg creams. The bursting-at-the-seams menu will also contain mouth-watering ice cream sundaes, including classic Hot Fudge Sundaes, Hot Caramel Sundaes, Peach Melba Sundaes and Banana Splits.
Guests booking seven-day Eastern Caribbean sailings from Miami onboard Norwegian Getaway after she launches 2014 will be pleased to know the tasty treats will be available onboard this ship too.
The Ice Cream Bar’s signature item will be the delicious and tempting “Breakaway” or “Getaway” Sundae. This is an enormous concoction designed to be shared between three to four guests. It features a whopping nine scoops of ice-cream and is topped with “everything but the kitchen sink” according to the company. From Oreos to gummy bears; raspberry sauce to almonds; fudge sauce to chocolate sprinkles; whipped cream to cherries, and more besides. Yum yum.
Speaking about the wonderful new Ice Cream Bar concept, Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian Cruise Line’s chief executive officer said:
“We’ve recreated a classic ice cream parlor on Norwegian Breakaway adding yet another exciting innovation to our newest ship. The launch of the Ice Cream Bar on board has been extremely well received and we look forward to debuting it on Norwegian Getaway in February 2014. Our guests are delighted by the variety of ice cream creations, especially the runaway fan favorite, the Breakaway Sundae.”
About Norwegian Cruise Line:
The company describes themselves as “innovator[s]in cruise travel” and with 46-years worth of history under their belts, it’s easy to see how they’re able to make waves in the cruising world. Most notably, Norwegian have been pioneers of “Freestyle Cruising”, which has revolutionised the industry and has provided both freedom and flexibility for guests looking for a more ‘laid back’, relaxed, resort-style vacation.
And Norwegian must be doing something right: for a sixth consecutive year the company has been named “Europe’s Leading Cruise Line” by the world Travel Awards.
About Norwegian Breakaway:
Billed as the company’s most innovative ship to date, the 4,000 passenger Breakaway set sail earlier this year (April 2013). She is “New York’s Ship”, home-porting in the city and decorated with artwork by the legendary Peter Max, who used the hull as a canvas to depict his vision of the “Big Apple.”
In addition to sister ship Norwegian Getaway setting sail in January 2014, the company have recently announced two “Breakaway Plus” ships will be joining the fleet and making their debut sailings in 2015 and 2017 respectively.
