Have you ever wondered what it takes to run an ultra-luxury, all-inclusive cruise ship? Well, now you can wonder no more and find out for yourself in Channel 5’s latest documentary: “Secrets of the World’s Most Expensive Cruise Ships”.
Regent’s Seven Seas Explorer is the featured ship in this four-part documentary with the first episode airing last Friday (23rd August). The second episode is due to air tonight (30.08.19) at 9pm.
Debut Episode
The first episode saw the magnificent ship preparing to depart Southampton on a cruise around the Iberian Peninsula, the Bay of Biscay and the Baltic Sea. However, challenges await the crew as they’re gearing up for 700 new guests; classic British weather threatens to spoil the lavish Sail Away Party. The weekly Sunday Brunch also kicks off to a rocky start. Perhaps resulting in the event not meeting the expectations of its demanding guests! The show also follows Senior Executive Chef, Michael, and Food & Beverage Director, Stephane, as they explore local Spanish markets to find the freshest of fish to serve in the largest speciality restaurant at sea, Compass Rose. Meanwhile, (for the first time in his 20-year career), Cruise Director, John, receives a special invitation from the guests of the Regent Suite!
If you’ve been following the creation of this phenomenal vessel, you might remember that Channel 5 documented the build of this ship back in December 2016, so it’s really exciting to see the finished, working product!
The Regent Suite
The real star of the show, however, is the 4,500 square foot (including balcony) Regent Suite, including a £204,648 grand Steinway piano, personal butler and its very own, in-suite spa with unlimited spa treatments! All this comfort does come at a price, though, of £8000 a night!
“We are incredibly excited about this documentary, which illustrates the attention to detail, professionalism and hard work that goes into providing the unrivalled experience found on board Seven Seas Explorer, and indeed on each luxurious Regent Seven Seas Cruises ship,” said Graham Sadler, Managing Director, EMEA, Regent Seven Seas Cruises.
In 2020, Seven Seas Explorer will return to Europe and the Caribbean, and in 2021, she’ll sail through spring and autumn in Asia and spend her first summer season in Alaska.
Make sure to catch up on episode 1, and don’t miss episode 2 airing tonight at 9pm!
