It seems hard to believe that it has been ten years since the horrific events of 9/11. So much has happened in the mean time, but still it feels so raw and so current, no doubt even more so for those who lost loved ones in the attacks.
We will all be remembering those who lost their lives on the 10th anniversary of 9/11 but the cruise lines have decided to mark the event with some special commemorative events of their own.
All carnival cruise ships will be holding a minutes silence, and the captain will be giving a short speech of remembrance to mark the occasion. Princess cruises will be holding a similar event on all of the ships in their fleet.
Holland America’s ship, Veendam is due to set sail from New York on september the 11th and it is expected that a minute of silence will be held as it sails past lower Manhattan.
Norwegian Cruise line have also announced that they will be holding a moment of silence and reflection as well as a short message of commemoration and condolence from the captains of their ships.
