Celebrity Cruises clearly agrees, launching its brand new Taste of Film experience that serves up cultural flicks, accompanied by multicourse tasting menus.
Stars, cinema and gourmet cuisine
Unfolding on the Rooftop Terrace, the showings take place in a stunning alfresco style lounge, complete with a cinema screen and luxurious cabanas. Celebrity Infinity will be the first ship to feature the experience, with screenings kicking off in December. Celebrity Summit will introduce passengers to ‘Taste of Film’ in March, followed by the Celebrity Millennium debut in May.
“A Taste of Film is one of the most delicious, indulgent ways vacationers can enjoy a beautiful outdoor space, a rich cultural and culinary experience and stunning views of the sea—all at once,” said Celebrity President and CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo. Accompanied by the debut of the Tuscan Grille, as well as other upgrades and enhancements, the Millennium-class ships are set to be “even bolder, more beautiful and more modern luxury than ever”.
A global glut of flavours
For a cover charge of $10, guests will be able to secure themselves a VIP cabana, as well as a gourmet meal. First up is The Hundred-Foot Journey, a drama/comedy following the feud of two French restaurants. With one owned by native French chefs and the other operated by Indian gourmands, it’s a battle of the taste buds. The menu is inspired by the film, with Celebrity’s associate vice president of food and beverage operations, Cornelius Gallagher personally developing the dishes.
From India, think crispy shrimp with tamarind and beef filet Bombay with mango pickle. Representing France is rich truffled mushroom risotto, sea scallops with glazed leeks and port wine jus, followed by an ultra-decadent Valrhona chocolate cake with sweet vanilla Chantilly.
“We launched with The Hundred-Foot Journey because it emphasizes – through both story and visuals – the power of food to bring people together, and to evoke memories,” said Gallagher.
