The company have said the ship will be “extremely connected to the ocean”, offering vistas (stunning views) from multiple spaces onboard.
Carnival’s CMO Jim Berra spoke about the new ship at an event aboard the newly revamped Carnival Sunshine:
“We’re starting to use the ship names as a touchstone for how we think about the design”.
“A lot of what we are thinking about for the design and the inspiration (for Carnival Vista) is the views out to the ocean, at the end of the day, that is why people are cruising. They want the salt air. They want the ocean breeze. They want to look out and see the ocean.”
Carnival’s CEO Gary Cahill added that Carnival Vista will have similarities and differences to sister ship Carnival Breeze. Although he didn’t give anything away – both Cahill and Berra chose to withhold most of the details about the new ship, as expected! Cahill did add the following statement however:
“It will look different than Breeze, and it’ll have spaces that are different than Breeze, but it will have a lot of the same spaces.”
In a statement on their website, Carnival add the following about the amenities and facilities guests may expect to be onboard the new ship:
“Carnival Vista will offer a wide variety of dining, bar and entertainment options that are part of the line’s groundbreaking Fun Ship 2.0 product enhancement initiative, along with a number of innovations unique to this vessel.”
Vista will be built by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri. The new ship will be the 25th vessel in the company’s “Fun Ship” fleet. Carnival currently owns the most ships of any cruise company, making it the world’s largest line.
As shown in our guide to new cruise ships on the blog, Carnival Vista is the only ship on order for the company. When the ship arrives in 2016, she’ll be the line’s newest ship since 2012.
