Lively, energetic and always upbeat, Carnival Cruise Line knows how to show its passengers a good time. The company is continuing to live up to its spirited reputation with the announcement that its latest fleet member will house its trademark RedFrog Pub, with a twist! As well as pouring third party brews, the venue will also churn out its very own ales and lagers. On-board the Carnival Vista passengers will be able to hit up the pub and order a glass of its unique brews crafted in two copper-topped glass kettles. A team of dedicated brew masters will oversee the entire process from start to finish, ensuring that the finished product is up to par. Edward Allen, VP of beverage operations for Carnival Cruise Line maintains that the line has recognised the appreciation is passengers have for beer, and is striving to impress. “Our guests love beer, and they love trying new things,” he says.
A focus on quality brews
While Carnival has been relatively tight lipped about its latest foray into micro-brewing, it has confirmed that it will offer three recipes, each with its own distinctive taste. Representatives have also revealed that grains will be milled on site to create the freshest, most authentic flavours possible. “We’re milling everything on site,” says Allen. “We want to be sure we’re putting our heart into this beer and making the best product we can.”
Reaching for new horizons
The instalment of the at-sea micro-brewery represents an impressive leap forward for Carnival’s existing beer menu. While in the past passengers have favoured Bud Light and Corona as their beers of choice, the new RedFrog Pub selection will cater to those with a taste for craft and artisan creations. Allen explains that “The idea came from our guests’ love of craft beers.”
As well as opening the RedFrog Pub micro-brewery Carnival has also been shining the spotlight on other unique brewing companies. For example, Tampa-based craft brewery Cigar City now supplies beer to Carnival’s Florida based sailings, draughts from the Maui Brewing Company are available on Hawaiian bound vessels and Louisiana’s Abita Brewing Company can be found on ship’s departing from New Orleans.
An immersive experience
Adding to the excitement of an at-sea brewery is the fact that passengers can watch the fermentation process unfold from behind a wall of glass. As they walk in they’ll be invited to touch and feel a trio of holding tanks. As well as ordering pints from the bar punters will also be able to operate tabletop taps that allow them to pour their own tipples. It’s a fantastic way for passengers to see, smell, touch and taste the RedFrog Pub experience.
