The Best Cruise Lines for 20-Somethings

0

At Cruise1st, we are regularly asked about the best cruise lines, ships and itineraries for younger audiences looking to combine heart-racing fun with the luxury so often linked to cruising.

And whilst we know of the cruise lines which offer the activities we’d have found fun back in our 20s (it wasn’t THAT long ago), we thought we’d seek the help of somebody currently the right side of 30 to shed some light on the matter.

So, here we are talking to Jamie Edwards, a real-life 20-something about the cruise lines which excite him and his friends. Jamie is a keen cruise fan, and a travel blogger over on Explore with Ed. He has pointed out the five cruise lines he reckons are best for those in their 20s, highlighting the features sure to appeal to the younger cruise fans amongst us.

Here’s Jamie from Explore with Ed, with his five top cruise line picks for 20-somethings:

The 21st Century is an exciting time for the cruise industry, with ships constantly being built in response to the surging demand. This means cruise companies are pulling out all the stops to deliver bold designs and innovative features, like the Central Park gardens on Royal Caribbean’s Oasis Class ships and the snow room aboard Norwegian Escape.

These groundbreaking facilities provide a perfect mix of relaxation, adventure and nightlife, which is ideal for 20-somethings searching for a stylish getaway.

If you have a hesitant partner or friend that needs persuading, check out the picks below and begin planning your next adventure by sea.

cruises for people in their 20s

1. Royal Caribbean

If you and your friends are the adventurous types, the exhilarating experiences (such as zip wiring, surfing and indoor sky diving) onboard Royal Caribbean ships are definitely for you.

Sports fans will also love the football and table tennis tournaments and clubs showing live matches.

At night there can be poolside parties, parades along the Royal Promenade (a hub of bars, cafés and shops) and even West End and Broadway shows in the theatre (best soaked up with the cocktail of the day). An emerging trend to watch out for is music festival and themed cruises specifically aimed at 20-somethings with DJs and pool parties.

2. P&O Cruises

For those who enjoy eating out with friends, going to see a show or taking beach holidays, P&O cruises has plenty to offer you. The line’s newest ship, the P&O Britannia, features 13 restaurants, which collaborate with the likes of TV Chef James Martin, wine connoisseur Olly Smith and cake experts Eric Lanlard and Mary Berry to ensure the quality is top notch. On selected cruises, you can even take up a cooking class on Britannia and be taught by one of these foodie heroes.

On most P&O ships such as the Ventura there’s also an adults-only area of comfortable beds to lounge up on deck, as well as wine bars, karaoke nights and a casino.

3. Carnival

The name itself evokes a sense of fun, and this is confirmed when you realise what these ships have to offer. The Carnival Vista for example has an IMAX, mini golf course and ‘SkyRide’ – a pedal-powered course suspended above the top deck.

If you desire a holiday that can provide you with relaxing pools and a spa alongside high-energy pursuits, this is be an excellent cruise line to explore.

4. Princess Cruises

Princess Cruises ooze style and luxury, but the atmosphere onboard ships like Emerald Princess is relaxed and informal. Cool features include an outdoor cinema screen to enjoy a movie under the stars (perfect for snuggling up with your partner), as well as some of the best food at sea from restaurants like Share by Chef Curtis Stone.

This cruise line may be familiar thanks to the recent TV Series ‘The Cruise’ featuring Regal Princess.

5. Norwegian Cruise Lines

Many 20-something’s have probably never realised that solo travel by sea is now a viable option – especially on selected Norwegian ships that offer ultra-modern single cabins and a shared communal area.

This cruise line is also excellent for groups of friends with ships like the Norwegian Epic having an ice bar, bowling alley and some of the best nightlife venues at sea, such as Bliss Ultra Lounge and The Cavern Club.

As a 20-something who’s looking to see more of the world, cruising is an awesome way to travel, particularly on the cruise lines mentioned above.

Thanks Ed!
