Popular TV talent show, The Voice, could soon be coming to an ocean near you. The BBC show has inspired Princess Cruises to organise their own on-board version on the Regal Princess, starting this October.
Guests, over the age of 16, will be able to audition for The Voice of the Ocean in front of special judges in the karaoke lounge aboard the ship. The judges will then choose their favourite hopefuls to perform in front of a live audience in a high tech studio – reminiscent of the original setting for The Voice, complete with the famous red, revolving chairs.
Successful guests will even be assigned a mentor to help them prepare for the live performance – when the live studio audience will vote for the ultimate winner.
Adrian Fischer, entertainment vice-president at Princess Cruises, enthused: “Guests will perform on a high-tech set almost identical to the hit show, including rotating red chairs and a live Princess band with backup singers. We’re excited to foster undiscovered talent.”
The Voice of the Ocean won’t be exclusive to the Regal Princess – the line plans to roll the feature out on the Royal Princess and Caribbean Princess in November. If the competition proves to be successful on these three ships – the line may look to extend to additional ships, increasing the competition to become the ultimate Voice of Princess Cruises.
This is just the latest addition to Princess Cruises’ collection of family-focussed fun activities – following on popular amenities such as Movies Under the Stars, the first ever top-deck cinema aboard cruise ships.
The Regal Princess has proved to be a big hit since taking to the seas last year, and is currently completely culturally interesting voyages throughout Russia and the countries of Scandinavia.
