To mark 19 days until the launch of the Anthem of the Seas, we are having a look at one of the first cruises the ship will undertake. The unique Royal Experience is a sophisticated three night jaunt from Southampton to Paris and Bruges, and back again. As one of the original itineraries announced for the ship’s first season on the seas, there are four trips planned – launching in April, May, August and October.
The trip includes elegant drinks packages so guests can enjoy a glass of bubbly as they make the short trip from Southampton to Le Havre, France before connecting to the French capital for a romantic Parisian visit. To celebrate this unique itinerary, we have included a unique, lesser-known, activity to enjoy in both Paris and Bruges.
Paris – Musée Marmottan-Claude Monet
Whilst the crowds congregate around the Mona Lisa and line the halls of the Louvre, the Musée Marmottan-Claude Monet houses the world’s largest collection of pieces by Claude Monet – largely donated by the artist’s family. Amongst the highlights of the museum is the Soleil Levant which inspired the whole Impressionism movement.
Bruges – Frietsmuseum
Amsterdam can keep its sex museums, Bruges is home to possibly the world’s only museum dedicated to chips! The Frietsmuseum celebrates Belgium’s love of chipped potatoes and educates all visitors about chip production and offers tastings for all guests. All housed in a beautiful 14th century building.
