Record braking trip for Voyager of the Seas
Voyager of the Seas, dubbed a “floating city of pleasure” by the WhatsonTianjin.com website and hailed as Aisa’s largest cruise liner, broke a new world record on Friday after it sailed to Taiwan’s Keelung port.
10,000 tourists travelled through the Taiwan port last friday, making it Keelung’s busiest day in history. It could also be a record high for daily traffic in all Taiwanese ports according Port Vice mananger Wei Shuo-Liang. And now rumour has it that Royal Caribbean are evaluating the possibility of making Keelung a home port in the Asia region.
After visiting Taiwan, Voyager of the Seas sailed over to Tianjin, a metropolis located in Northern China.Tianjin makes up one of the five national central cities of the People’s Republic of China. During a welcoming ceremony in Tianjin, the Tourism Bureau handed out clay sculptures as gifts to a number of tourists.
Discussing the sheer scale of the 140,000 tonne cruise ship, Yang Chunsheng, the Deputy Manager of the Tiajin International Cruise Home Port compared Voyager to Royal Caribbean’s sister ship, Legend of the Seas:
“the supplies to the Voyager of the Seas, such as food, beverages and other necessities, were carried in 10 containers, twice as much as what the Legend of the Seas required last year.”
Voyager of the Seas then set sail from Tianjin carrying 3,200 passengers to Japan’s Nagasaki, Fukuodo and South Korea’s Jeju Island and Seoul in an 8-day tour.
