Last week was National Cruise Week, dubbed as ‘Australia’s largest cruise promotion’ with over 30 of the International Cruise Council Australasia (ICCA) companies taking part.
This extraordinary event saw over 1000 travel agents taking part from both New Zealand and Australia.
The aim of the week was to promote cruising to a wide range of new potential cruisers. Lots of cruise companies offered great deals such as 40 per cent savings, free upgraded cabins, extra onboard credit and half price fares for cabin partners.
These offers, which were available only through ICCA travel agents in Australia, were pitched to raise customer awareness of cruising value for money.
“This will be the largest cruise promotion ever undertaken by the local cruise industry. Throughout National Cruise Week, Australians will be able to take advantage of exclusive deals and spectacular savings offered by member cruise lines through ICCA member travel agents”
– Mr Brett Jardine, ICCA General Manager
There was even a recent surge in travel agents signing up to join the ICCA simply so they can take advantage of the national marketing for National Cruise Week.
“This membership surge is a fantastic response to our first National Cruise Week. The feedback I’m getting is that agents from both countries see the event as a great opportunity boost sales and a wonderful chance to raise their profiles as qualified cruise specialists” said Mr Jardine.
The National Cruise Weeks have been held in the USA since 2005 and boosted sales by over $55 million last year.
Sadly Australian Cruise Week is now over… But UK readers can still enjoy great offers in the UK national cruise week….
Never fear you can still take part in UK National Cruise Week which runs from the 15th to the 23rd of September.
