You’ll be Amazed at these Five On-Board Activities

As the competition between cruise companies grows stronger, ship designers have had to become more and more innovative when implementing on-board features and amenities. This has led to an incredible array of activities available for holidaymakers to enjoy whilst cruising the seas. Here are five of the most incredible and awe-inspiring.

North Star Observation Pod

Ship: Royal Caribbean Anthem of the Seas

Deal: Mediterranean Cities of Distinction

The North Star Observation Pod lifts passengers 300ft in the air, offering them incredible seascapes and coastal views. The Pod is completely complimentary to all guests on the Anthem of the Seas, although bookings may need to be made to enjoy a special sunrise or sunset view. The North Star Observation Pod promises to be one of the most popular features on the upcoming Quantum class of ships.

SkyCourse

Ship: Carnival Breeze

Deal: Caribbean from Miami

The SkyCourse offers similar views to the North Star Observation Pod, if you dare look. Part of the SportSquare, SkyCourse challenges fearless passengers to complete a difficult obstacle course high above the deck. If that all sounds a bit too nerve-wracking for you, SportSquare also plays host to basketball and volleyball courts as well as a football pitch.

Movies Under the Stars

Ship: Princess Cruises Royal Princess

Deal: Southern Caribbean Medley

The star of The Cruise Ship documentary, the Royal Princess plays hosts to the largest screen in Princess Cruises’ ‘Movies Under the Stars’ programme. Set atop the deck, adjacent to the ship’s largest outdoor pool, the giant screen plays old classics and new favourites under the stars for passengers to enjoy on warm, beautiful nights. Movies Under the Stars is best enjoyed on a cruise to warmer climes.

Fairy Godmother

Ship: Royal Caribbean Allure of the Seas

Deal: Western Med from Barcelona

Ever the innovators, Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas became the first ship to have its own dedicated Fairy Godmother, Princess Fiona. The 3D star of the Shrek movies is omnipresent on the ship to entertain and delight the younger passengers aboard the ship. The princess was even charged with the traditional task of breaking a bottle of champagne on the ship’s hull before its first voyage.

iFly by Ripcord

Ship: Royal Caribbean Quantum of the Seas

Deal: Inaugural Voyage to New York

The world’s first skydiving simulator at sea will first set sail aboard the Quantum of the Seas November on the ship’s maiden voyage. Offering passengers the opportunity to experience the thrills of skydiving and the mesmeric feeling of weightlessness; the iFly is complimentary to all passengers and quick instruction is provided by experienced skydivers.
