The newest member of the Royal Caribbean fleet came one step closer to her launch this week as Anthem of the Seas officially left dry dock and took to the waters for the first time. Docking out of the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany this week, the final touches are being added to the ship before her maiden voyage in April 2015.

The Anthem of the Seas is the second member of the Quantum Class of ships from Royal Caribbean. Labelled the world’s first smartships, they are the most technologically-advanced ships currently in operation. The ship’s maiden voyage takes place on 22 April 2015, sailing out of Southampton to France and Spain.
The ship will shortly make the short trip from Papenburg, Germany to Southampton – where she will be based throughout her first season at sea before relocating to New Jersey in November 2015, to complete a selection of Caribbean and Bahamas itineraries.
