Top 3 Autumn Cruise Destinations for 2016

With Autumn just around the corner, now is the perfect time to start planning a relaxing cruise holiday to keep the winter blues at bay. Whether you’re looking for sun, sights or just want to slow your life down to a more leisurely pace, an autumn cruise can offer it all and more.

1: Mediterranean

If the thought of the longer, chillier nights makes you shudder, why not book a cruise to the Mediterranean and take advantage of the region’s late-summer sun? Enjoy smooth seas, laid-back vibes and temperatures in the mid-20s as you explore the shores and landscapes of some of the world’s most attractive coastlines.

It’s practically impossible to recommend just one Mediterranean cruise destination (we love them all), however Croatia deserves a very special mention. The country’s diverse landscape and vibrant coastline makes it a must-see for anyone thinking of sailing the Mediterranean Sea. Step back in time as you sail past the spectacular 12th century walls of Dubrovnik and explore the Old City, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

2: Scandinavia

Have you witnessed the Northern Lights in all their magical glory? A Scandinavian cruise could provide you with the perfect opportunity this autumn. Sweden, Denmark, Norway and the surrounding Nordic countries of Finland and Iceland are famous for their beautiful, unspoilt landscapes and fascinating histories.

A visit to Stockholm, the “Venice of the North”, and one of Sweden’s most visited destinations, is highly recommended. The capital city has long been regarded as one of the world’s most beautiful cities and the laid-back, cosmopolitan locals are well-known for being friendly, hospitable hosts.

3: River cruises

The slow, laid-back pace of a river cruise guarantees an incredibly intimate and relaxing holiday. With some of the longest rivers in Europe, the River Rhine, Seine and Danube offer breathtaking views and plenty of opportunities to explore ancient cities.

The River Rhine snakes across six countries and is an incredibly popular cruise destination due to the unforgettable and spectacular route it takes through medieval villages and fairytale castes.
