Passengers are invited to choose from an extensive menu of delights, from individual rolls to indulgent bento boxes. Not to mention sides, miso soup and sake! Don’t forget to try the house specialty Bonsai Triple E Roll, stuffed full of freshwater eel, barbequed eggplant and Japanese egg omelette. For an intimate, high end sushi experience Silversea’s Seishin Restaurant is a discerning choice. The venue derives its name from the Japanese word for ‘spirit’ which is only fitting, given that it’s housed on-board the Silver Spirit. The establishment serves up fine Asian fusion cuisine and is renowned for its exquisite creations, particularly in the sushi department. The chefs take an artisan approach to their sushi and sashimi, with guests able to watch on as they put together each piece by hand at the central Chef’s Table. Reservations incur a fee of $40 yet during sea days passengers can hit up Seishin Restaurant for a complimentary sushi and sashimi lunch spread.
Found on-board Sun Princess and Diamond Princess, Kai Sushi is a traditional style bar rolling delectable Japanese delicacies. The menu is simple and straightforward, yet packed full of fresh flavours and plenty of seafood. From surf clam and cured blue mackerel to yellowtail and freshwater eel, there are plenty of choices!
As the creative vision of world famous master sushi chef Nobuyuki “Nobu” Matsuhisa, this venue was always going to impress. With its eclectic vibe and innovative approach to the art of sushi, Nobu’s at-sea emporium blends the classic flavours of Japanese cuisine with the exotic influences of Europe and Peru. Think imaginative combinations such as Salmon Tartar, Tiradito Nobu-style and Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeño and Tuna Tataki with Ponzu Sauce.
This ultra-modern venue represents a new generation of at-sea sushi, with menus displayed on iPads and dishes served up tapas style. While it doesn’t specialise exclusively in sushi, its signature dish is the weird yet wonderful Sushi Lollipops. Prepare for a kaleidoscope of edible colour! The pleasure does incur a $40 surcharge but for those on the search for a unique dining experience, it’s well worth the investment.
