Seabourn have just christened their largest ever ship at a naming ceremony in Singapore. The Seabourn Encore holds 600 passengers, and is the most luxurious ship the exclusive cruise line has ever built. With 300 suites, all equipped with balconies, walk-in wardrobes and bathrooms finished in marble, this ship overturns the idea that luxury can only be found on small ships.
Richard Meadows, President of Seabourn, highlighted the importance of the new ship, saying: “The launch of Seabourn Encore marks the start of a new era of ultra-luxury cruising. Seabourn Encore marks a major step forward in terms of growth for our company. This ship is stunningly beautiful and I know guests are going to be absolutely captivated as they step aboard and see it first-hand.”
Seabourn Encore is the fourth luxury vessel to join the Seabourn fleet, and the first of two that will be designed in collaboration with hospitality design icon Adam D. Tihany. Its sister ship, Seabourn Ovation, is currently under construction and will be launched in spring next year.
Tihany intends for the ships to feel more like a luxury yacht, with the modern innovation and understated elegance that has become Seabourn’s signature. Seabourn Encore boasts several new features, including The Retreat, an exclusive sanctuary where guests can recline in private cabanas. A holistic spa and wellness experience in partnership with Dr Andrew Weil will also be available on board, taking care of guests’ physical, social, environmental and spiritual wellbeing.
An array of outstanding restaurants can be found on board, with the inclusion of Sushi, marking Seabourn’s first ever Japanese restaurant. Guests can marvel as specialist chefs create sashimi, nigiri and sushi that is as beautiful as it is delicious. The Grill, an evening-only restaurant, has been created by US chef, Thomas Keller, especially for the cruise line, serving hearty steaks and delectable seafood. Featuring an outdoor terrace for diners to enjoy spectacular sunsets over the ocean, this restaurant is a real taste of luxury.
Seabourn Encore will spend summer 2017 exploring the Mediterranean, offering indulgent cruising experiences such as a 7-day Greek and Italian Jewels cruise, and the enchanting 7-day Riviera Allure voyage. From Spain and France to Italy and Greece, the Seabourn Encore will offer its passengers the chance to discover charming cities and coastal villages all across the Mediterranean.
