Following months of speculation, Royal Caribbean has confirmed the Quantum of the Seas will feature a Royal Esplanade in lieu of a Royal Promenade. The information was leaked as part of the marketing material for the newest liner in the fleet before it sets sail on its maiden voyage in less than a fortnight on 2 November 2014.
Royal Caribbean’s marketing material invites guests to: ‘Step into the striking Royal Esplanade and discover a world of possibilities at the heart of Quantum of the Seas. This winding multi-level thoroughfare is lined with charming boutiques, clubs, restaurants and bars amidst whimsical works of modern art that will ignite your imagination. Around every corner, find something new to discover — whether it’s a smooth beer, a surprise live performance, or the perfect gift for someone back home.’
The Royal Esplanade will host a selection of shops and the ship’s signature speciality restaurants including Cartier, Kiehl’s, Tag Heuer, Michael’s Genuine Pub, Wonderland and Chops Grille. The Esplanade will make up one of the ship’s central walkways and social hubs.
The Bionic Bar, complete with robotic bartenders, will also be present aside the Royal Esplanade, giving guests the chance to enjoy an accurately measured cocktail from one of the robo-bartenders.
A number of the entertainment hubs aboard the Quantum of the Seas will also be accessible via the Esplanade including the Two70 venue and Royal Theatre.
The Quantum of the Seas’ maiden voyage sails from Southampton to New York on 2 November 2014. The ship, dubbed the ‘world’s first smartship’ by Royal Caribbean, will feature a selection of world’s first features including the first ever skydiving at sea experience and the NorthStar Observation Pod, lifting passengers 300ft in the air.
