Royal Caribbean Search for the Perfect ‘Extraordinary Intern-Ship’ Candidate

Royal Caribbean cruise line are searching for their first ever Instagram intern; a master of smartphone photography and filter selection.

Illuminating OnePoll research into how customers choose holiday destinations revealed to Royal Caribbean that 48% of people look to social media streams such as Instagram and Facebook to get holiday inspiration. Ever ahead of the curve, Royal Caribbean are now looking for an ‘extraordinary explorer’ to act as a tastemaker on their social media sites, scouting out the best cruise holiday stories and destinations to upload in full Valencia-tinted technicolour.

The successful candidate will journey to Beijing, New York and Barcelona, spending three sunny weeks on some of Royal Caribbean’s most spectacular cruise ships. From rock climbing and simulated surfing, to fitness facilities and spa pools, the intern will have an access-all-areas pass to experience the best of cruising.

More than just a travel photographer, Royal Caribbean are looking for someone that can find and tell the perfect stories, the ones that capture what makes cruising really special. Managing Director of Royal Caribbean UK and Ireland, Ben Bouldin, says: “Royal Caribbean has a fleet of 25 ships visiting over 250 destinations around the world, meaning our holidays are positively teeming with extraordinary moments. In a first for the cruise industry, we’re looking for a talented storyteller to capture those moments and bring them to the world via Instagram.”

The competition has three expert judges: Lucy Huxley, Editor in Chief of Travel Weekly; Johnny Ward, Irish travel blogger and the youngest person to visit every country in the world; and Ben Bouldin, Vice President and Managing Director of Royal Caribbean UK and Ireland. Looking for applicants who have what it takes to capture stunning views, extraordinary experiences, beautiful sunsets and amazing stories on social media – with a full knowledge of all 23 filters – the judges hope to find a true storyteller and give them their ‘big break’.

If you wish to apply for this internship of a lifetime, simply post your most extraordinary travel photographs on Instagram and tag @RoyalCaribbeanUK with the hashtag #ExtraordinaryExplorer to enter the competition. Winners will receive £3,000 in prize money, as well as their three-week, all expense paid trip on three of Royal Caribbean’s most exciting cruise ships.  Good luck and happy travels!
