Royal Caribbean Commissions 4th Member of Oasis-Class Fleet

Royal Caribbean passengers are in for a treat with the recent announcement that the Miami based industry giant has ordered a fourth edition of its world famous megaship. The order comes five years after the line introduced its first super-sized vessel and joins its sister ships, Oasis and Allure in lighting up the ocean with RCI’s unparalleled Oasis-class standards.

The newest member of the fleet is scheduled to set sail in 2018 and is capable of carrying 5,400 passengers. For those that can’t wait that long, RCI is currently completing a third Oasis-class ship at the STX France shipyard. The vessel is yet to be named but is due to make its debut voyage in spring 2016.

RCI has enjoyed huge success with Oasis and Allure, a triumph which the newest additions are expected to build on. “Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas continue to be in a class by themselves both in terms of guest satisfaction and financial returns,” explains Royal Caribbean Cruises chairman and CEO Richard Fain.

While the figures have not been confirmed, both Oasis and Allure set the line back $1.4 billion per vessel. It is expected that the new additions will surpass this price tag with analysts estimating costs of up to $1.54 billion.

While the announcement has delighted cruise enthusiasts across the globe, the orders did not come as a surprise to experts and investors who see the expansion as falling perfectly in line with RCI’s long term 4% annual growth plan.

It has not yet been revealed where the new ships will be stationed however there are rumours that the line plans to base an Oasis-class ship in the booming cruise industry market of Asia.
