Owned, organised and executed by Real Response Media, the Wave Awards are one of the industry’s biggest events. As the owners of World of Cruising, Cruise Trade News and Cruise Ports & Destinations, the group sure knows its stuff when it comes to the travel and leisure industry.
Together, a cherry picked panel of independent cruise travel experts give their two cents on what lines they feel are blazing a trail. Coupled with the results of a separate public voting system, the Wave Awards draw on knowledge, expertise and personal experiences. At their core, the honours set benchmarks for excellence within the luxury cruise travel market, and celebrate the achievements of lines that give it their absolute all.
So who cleaned up at this year’s awards? Let’s take a look at some of the resplendent winners!
Unsurprisingly, Cruise Line of the Year went to Royal Caribbean. With the highly anticipated launch of Harmony of the Seas set to take place later this year, the line is well and truly in the spotlight. Following close behind was Princess Cruises, with a ‘Highly Commended’ recognition from the panel.
A unique award, this nods to the best cruise hub in Britain. With its world class facilities that served a huge 1.7 million passengers in 2015, Southampton Cruise Port stole the crown for this one.
Norwegian Cruise Line sure knows how to throw a party, and the Wave Awards didn’t fail to recognise its efforts. Every night, guests are treated to a galvanising line up, including intimate cabarets, lavish stage shows, comedy sets and headline acts such as Burn the Floor or the Legends in Concert® tribute show.
Trust the people at Cunard to come up with the industry’s best marketing campaign. We love the way they continue to incorporate the history, elegance and refinement of the Cunard brand into every cruise.
Nothing created a buzz quite like the launch of P&O Cruises’ Britannia in 2015. The 330-metre-long vessel introduced passengers to a host of exciting new features, and an unsurpassed on-board experience.
For those who love a little luxury, Princess Cruises was hailed as this year’s Best Premium Cruise Line winner. With its attention to detail and ultra-luxe ships, it’s not hard to see why.
Timelessly exhilarating, New York was named this year’s hottest cruise destination. Interestingly, Norway won the Consumer Favourite Destination award. An increasing number of lines are scheduling trips to the Scandinavian country, with travellers keen to see the stunning scenery for themselves.
