Princess Cruises has announced the 2018 Encounters with Discovery at SEA speaker series for the rest of 2018, bringing onboard a variety of celebrities and notable figures to share their experiences with guests on select sailings this year. Covering a wide selection of topics, from astronomy and sports to pop culture, the Encounters with Discovery at SEA programme aims to enrich guests’ time onboard with inspiring and entertaining speakers as they sail the seas.
Launching in 2014, the speaker series features regional destination specialists and a range of experts, the new additions to the programme will impart their knowledge and experience through an array of exciting, engaging talks. Adding to the immersive Princess journey, these enlightening talks cover all manner of subject matter, including history, culture and wellness, along with the movie and music industries.

Debuting on their Ruby Princess, Star Princess and Grand Princess sailings in April, the California Coast speaker series features stars from the screen and stage entertaining guests, including:
Shirley Jones: Oscar-winning actress, star of iconic movie musicals, and the popular 1970s TV show The Partridge Family
Denny Seiwell: Drummer and founding member of Wings
Allan Dennis Rich: Oscar, Golden Globe and Grammy nominee
Linda Gray: Actress and director, Golden Globe and Emmy nominee
Guests sailing on five to 10-day-sailings in April and May 2018 will be welcome to talks from the following:
Pete Best: Original drummer for The Beatles
John Mauceri: Los Angeles Philharmonic & Hollywood Bowl conductor and producer, Grammy, Tony, Olivier and Billboard award winner
Charles Fox: Grammy and Emmy award-winning American composer, Oscar and Golden Globe nominee
Through October 2018, guests partaking in seven and 14-day cruises to the Mediterranean and Northern Europe onboard Sapphire Princess can enjoy talks from a list including, but not limited to, the following:
William Roache: Actor, Coronation Street
Christine Dunbobbin: Author, actress, voiceover artist
James Cosmo: Actor, playing roles in films including Braveheart and Trainspotting, as well as the television series Game of Thrones
Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards: Former British Olympic skier
Linda Gray: Actress and Director, Golden Globe and Emmy nominee
John Virgo: Former professional snooker player turned commentator
Beverley Callard: Actress, Coronation Street
Jimmy McKenna: Actor, A Touch of Frost and Hollyoaks
Harry Redknapp: Ex-football player and manager
Terry Butcher: Ex-England football player
Paul Burrell RVM: Former royal Butler
Each speaker will host a 45-minute talk before opening the floor to a Q&A session, along with a meet-and-greet opportunity with photographs and book signings. Guests will also have an opportunity to belt out their favourite songs as part of the onboard singing competition The Voice of the Ocean, where some of the revered speakers will serve as judges!
