Princess Cruises have, this week, announced that their entire fleet will be given something of a makeover with the line’s famous logo being added to the livery design. Over the next few years the design will be added to every ship in the fleet, starting with the Majestic Princess, which is due to launch in summer 2017.
The instantly recognisable ‘Seawitch’ logo has been in use for almost half a century, since its launch in 1968. Affixing the logo to every ship in the fleet is a fitting way to commemorate the logo’s 50th anniversary, helping give the ships even more identity as they make their way through the seas.
Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises’ president, enthused: “For nearly half a century our Princess logo has represented the adventure of cruise travel around the globe. Now our ships sail to more than 360 ports of call worldwide and will be instantly recognized from afar. As the very first cruise ship built for China, we take great pride that Majestic Princess is our first ship to proudly display our new livery design.”
The construction of the Majestic Princess is nearing completion, with the vessel floated out in the Fincantieri building dock in Italy where it is being built earlier this week. Princess Cruises marked the occasion with a traditional ceremony which marks the moment when a new ship meets the ocean for the first time.
An exciting project for Princess Cruises, the Majestic Princess is set to be the first ship in the fleet to be built exclusively for the rapidly-growing Asian cruise industry. As the third member of the Royal Class, the ship will be able to boast many of the popular features of the Royal Princess and Regal Princess, including the stunning SeaWalk, an over-the-sea pathway and Chef’s Table Lumiere, a private dining experience which wraps guests in a curtain of light.
