P&O to Launch First Dedicated Cookery School at Sea with Mary Berry

Mary Berry, Britain’s legendary baking queen is bringing a much needed dose of femininity to a seemingly male dominated at-sea cooking scene! The nationally adored Great British Bake-Off judge is set to head ‘The Cookery Club,’ Britannia’s very own professional standard cookery school.

Christopher Edgington, P&O Cruises marketing director maintains that Britannia has elevated at-sea cooking to a whole new level, explaining “These exclusive cooking experiences will appeal to a whole new group of people who have never before considered cruising as a holiday option.”

Berry fronts the at-sea cooking trend

One of this year’s hottest up and coming cruise trends is a focus on premium quality cuisine. P&O’s Britannia is at the vanguard of the movement with its dedicated at-sea cookery school fronted by the ever lovely Mary Berry. Aptly titled ‘The Cookery Club,’ Britannia’s dedicated culinary school venue features 12 work stations which can cater for up to 24 students at a time. The entire school is kitted out by KitchenAid and offers passengers access to the ultimate at-sea kitchen. No doubt Mary will have passengers whipping up a tantalising selection of home baked delicacies in no time at all! Each class runs for two hours and will set passengers back £100 or £200 depending on how many celebrity chefs are present.

An army of culinary connoisseurs

As well as Mary Berry P&O has also secured an additional nine high profile chefs including London based chef, restaurateur and food expert, Antonio Carluccio and four Michelin starred foodie Nathan Outlaw. On-board Britannia the chefs will run cooking classes, host VIP chef’s table dinners, take part in signing and attend Q&A sessions.

What’s on the menu?

P&O is running its celebrity chef endorsed cooking lessons on a series of itineraries throughout the year. Passengers determined to enjoy a slice of Mary Berry’s baking expertise should head over to the Cruise 1st website and book a place on-bard Britannia’s 12 night British Isles cruise which pulls out of Southampton on July 6. We’re certain that the aromas wafting up from The Cookery Club’s 12 KitchenAid ovens will be nothing short of intoxicating!

On March 28 Nathan Outlaw will front a 14 night voyage to Portugal, Spain and Morocco, Pierre Koffmann, James Martin and Charlie Turnbull will take lessons on a June 13 cruise bound for Spain, Monaco and Italy while Theo Randall will share his culinary secrets on a 12 night British Isles voyage setting sail on July 6. Passengers embarking on the seven night July 18 Norwegian Fjords cruise will be joined by Wolseley restaurant head chef Lawrence Keogh, James Tanner will run classes on a seven night August 8 voyage to France, Spain and Guernsey and Indian expert Vivek Singh will join the 14 night August 15 trip to Spain, Monaco and Italy. On September 5 Daniel Galmiche will front The Cookery Club on a seven night voyage, Antonio Carluccio will take the reins of a 14 night itinerary on October 9 and Irishman Paul Rankin the ranks on a 14 night cruise kicking off on October 23.

“We are incredibly honoured to have secured the services of the best chefs at sea,” adds Edgington.
