You must know these new attractions

Attractions aboard a cruise ship are very diverse. There is a perfect offer to suit every taste and every clientele. Whether you want fun and action or relaxation and wellness – you can always find the right attractions on a cruise. The importance of being well connected at sea keeps increasing for guests and of course there are differences in this regard, as well. Many cruise companies come up with exciting new features. Whether it is big family cabins, new shows, or design innovations – there are many new ships with spectacular features aboard to look forward to. Altogether, 25 new cruise ships will have their maiden calls in 2019. So, you see, there are many highlights to look for.

New highlights: Infinity pools and stunning views

Expedition cruises are trending right now. There will be new expedition vessels that will enter the sea for the first time in 2019, which not only go to nice destinations, but also promise some on board highlights. Cruise companies have come up with many new features, in order to make your cruise experience as memorable as possible. The Celebrity Flora from Celebrity Cruises is an expedition vessel that will cruise around the Galapagos Islands starting 2019. Thanks to a limited capacity of 100 passengers, the cruise feels very private. Guests can learn more about the destination, whether that is by visiting presentations in the observatory or in the library that is dedicated to the island archipelago.

Exclusive areas and ship-in-ship concepts

Cruise companies respond to the guests’ desire for increased luxury and exclusivity with so called ship-in-ship concepts. These are areas with upscale standards, which are not accessible to the public. Royal Caribbean’s Spectrum of the Seas is the first of its fleet to feature a suite-only deck, which is located on floors 13 to 16. This area can only be accessed with a key card and has a private elevator, its own restaurant and lounge. MSC Cruises’ Yacht Club follows the same ship-in-ship concept. In the case of the new MSC Bellissima the MSC Yacht Club covers 3 decks and provides guests with comfortable and spacious cabins, as well as all around the clock butler service. Princess Cruises added two new and exclusive suites to its newest addition, the Sky Princess. These offer 145 sqm. of upscale living space, as well as a 270-degree panorama with the most amazing view on the sea and a “movie under the stars” screen.

Entertainment aboard

The upcoming newly built ships, as in previous years, offer numerous attractions aboard that promise to be thrilling. One of these is the Sky Pad, part of the Spectrum of the Seas. The virtual bungee trampoline experience provides the whole family with fun and a special view. The Carnival Panorama, debuting at the end of 2019, not only offers a great view, but also features many institutions and facilities from Carnival Cruise Line’s Vista class ships. Like its sister ships Carnival Vista and Carnival Horizon, the Panorama will also feature SkyRide, which allows you to ride a bike around the ship and have a tremendous view on the sea.

Of course, cruise companies also thought of their young guests. The MSC Bellissima, which will be christened in March of 2019 in Southampton, UK, will provide children with a fascinating 700 sqm. playground with a “School of Magic program” and a weekly magic talent show. The MSC Grandiosa has a wide variety of entertainment for everybody, as well. That includes both the DOREMI studio lounge and tech lab, which are the spaces for family activities and tech enthusiastic children. Carnival Panorama’s Family Harbour consists of spacious rooms for families. The big water park brings great joy to the younger passengers, too. The Spectrum of the Seas features the Ultimate Family Suite, which has room for up to eleven people.

Night time entertainment has a similar importance. One of the MSC Grandiosa’s highlights will be the Carousel Lounge, which takes up about 1000m2 over two decks. This is where the new “Cirque de Soleil at Sea” will be presented. After the show, the lounge becomes a club. Both specifically for MSC created shows are also show aboard the MSC Bellissima. The Sky Dome on decks 16 and 17 of the Iona by P&O Cruises is unique. The location offers many opportunities for shows and parties under the stars, as the roof is made from glass.

Modern technology and artificial intelligence

The MSC Bellissima is the first cruise ship to feature an Artificial Intelligence-based personal voice assistant, in this case named “Zoe”. The AI-based voice control enables passengers to comfortably learn more about offers from the ship from their cabin. It will be available in these seven different languages English, French, Italian, Spanish, German, Brazilian Portuguese, and Mandarin. “Zoe” will also be available on the MSC Grandiosa and MSC Virtuosa.
Well-functioning wi-fi gains importance at sea. A fair price and a stable connection are therefore important criteria for travellers. So, cruise companies work on improving the technology aboard. By now, the internet connection for a lot of the ships is stable and reliable and are decently priced. One of the best in this area are Royal Caribbean, which is due to their reliable and fast internet connection. Some cruise companies even offer social media packages, so you can share your best memories with your friends and family.

There are plenty of spectacular features and fascinating innovations for you to discover on the new cruise ships. The best part is: there is a ship for every taste and every destination with amazing attractions, so everyone will find their perfect cruise.
