NCL Announces Dining and Entertainment Options for the Escape

Norwegian Cruise Line has released details about the dining and entertainment offerings on board their hotly anticipated new ship, the Norwegian Escape. The ship will benefit from a selection of partnerships with well-known and much-loved brands, bringing instantly recognisable eateries and outlets to the newest member of the fleet.

Announced at an exclusive event in New York City, Norwegian Cruise Line officials revealed plans for productions of two Tony Award-winning musicals – After Midnight and Million Dollar Quartet – as well as a unique supper club.

The new dining highlights will include restaurants headed up by respected Miami restaurateurs Jose Mendin, Andrea Schreiner and Sergio Navarro, as well as James Beard Award-winning Iron Chef Jose Garces. The ship will also feature The District Brewhouse, a craft beer specialist bar, and The Cellars, a wine bar from Michael Mondavi.

Drew Madsen, Norwegian Cruise Line’s president and chief operating officer, explained: “With Norwegian Escape, we are transforming culinary experiences at sea and continuing our legacy of innovation that has revolutionized dining in the cruise industry. We are building on our solid foundation of branded partnerships, including Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville, and welcoming new ideas and flavours from award-winning chefs. Norwegian also continues to pave the way as a leader in entertainment, as we bring two Tony Award-winning Broadway musicals and a post-modern cabaret direct from Los Angeles to Norwegian Escape.”

Iron Chef-winner Jose Garces will launch two restaurants (Bayamo and Pincho Tapas Bar) on the Escape – his first ventures at sea. Garces is famed for his Latin-inspired expertise, creating dishes from throughout Central America.

The Norwegian Escape is set to become the largest member of the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet when it takes to the seas in October 2015. As the first of the Breakaway Plus class of ships; the Escape will benefit from a range of new features and amenities, and the ship will call Miami home during its first season at sea.
