MSC Partners with World-Famous Cirque du Soleil

MSC Cruises has entered into a long-term partnership with world-renowned Canadian entertainment company, Cirque du Soleil, in an effort to transform its at-sea entertainment offering across its four brand new Meraviglia ships — the first of which is due to set sail in June 2017.

Working closely with Cirque de Soleil, MSC Cruises will create a comprehensive entertainment roster for all four vessels in the line’s new Meraviglia class of ships — a programme which will predominantly feature live shows, the quality of which have never been seen on the high seas before.

Each of the live entertainment shows created in conjunction with Cirque will take place in MSC’s new purpose-built Aft Lounges — capable of seating 450 spectators apiece. Each Aft Lounge will feature two performances per night, six days a week — providing passengers with plenty of opportunity to enjoy the spectacular variety of entertainment on offer.

Currently, MSC Cruises are awaiting the arrival of four new state-of-the-art Meraviglia class vessels, each of which is kitted out with the very latest technology to offer superior levels of comfort and entertainment for passengers. The first Meraviglia vessel is currently under construction at the STX shipyard in Saint Nazaire, France, and is due to make its first scheduled sailing in the Western Mediterranean in June 2017.

MSC Cruises has confirmed that a further three Meraviglia class vessels will be delivered in 2019, 2020 and 2022 respectively.

Pierfrancesco Vago, executive chairman of MSC Cruises, said: “MSC Cruises is a company built on innovation, from the unique ships we design and build to the on-board experiences we conceive and create.

“Together with Cirque du Soleil, we are now designing a totally new, live entertainment experience for our guests. This commitment to innovation, and the vision and creativity that only a family-owned company can apply, is what makes MSC Cruises so distinct.”

Yasmine Khalil, president of Cirque du Soleil’s special projects company 45DEGREES, added: “We have found in MSC a long-term partner with a clear vision about trends in the cruising industry and a strong desire to be the leader by taking entertainment on board to a whole new level.

“For Cirque du Soleil, this is what inspires us and provides us with a great creative challenge that we require for each new relationship and project that we embark on.”
